SAN MARINO REPUBLIC
San Marino, officially known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino, is one of the oldest republics in the world, founded in 301 AD. Located on Mount Titano, it is a small, independent state completely surrounded by Italy, near the Adriatic coast. San Marino is famous for its medieval architecture, particularly the Three Towers overlooking the landscape, and its beautiful views.
Despite its small size, San Marino maintains its own government, currency, and institutions. It has a long-standing tradition of neutrality and independence, preserved even during major European conflicts. San Marino is also renowned for issuing its own stamps which are highly prized by collectors. The tourism sector is well-developed and attracts visitors for its history, unique microstate status, and tax-free shopping.
